Last Night

Last night we had a sort of graduation dinner for all the rookies out at a restaurant called Redwood’s Grille. The whole crowd of 8 students, 8 dogs, 3 instructors, and the nurse on staff piled into a couple of vans, and upon arrival managed to navigate the restaurant's darker atmosphere to our table without major incident or losing anyone (quite a feat when herding blind people, Is peak from experiences at National Federation of the Blind conferences). The evening was fairly uneventful, except that one dog managed to unhook herself from the leash (fortunately the nurse grabbed her before she went table-diving) and Prada slipped herself entirely out of her harness! I'd fastened it a little more loosely than I usually did, and at the restaurant had tucked her under my chair. Well, she used the cross support bar under the chair to hook the harness and then crawl backwards out of it!  Fortunately I still had the leash in my hand so she didn't get too far.  Got a pfui and reharnessed and behaved herself for the rest of the night, yay!  The food was excellent, and the staff (apparently used to troupes of teams in training coming through) handled each little moment of chaos as if it were perfectly normal and didn’t interfere with training moments at all.  (The little stinker has only managed this once since then—I’m a little more careful with the harness now J)

This morning Prada and I are bound for New York City!  I'll let y'all know how that goes when we get back.  I'm also hoping to do a night trip either this evening or the evening after.
